Brand had told the Clipps that he was going to come back just to see if he could make a little bit more cash.

ha ha, BS Elton,

Brand has now signed a five year contract thats valued at $82 mill!!! the move that philly just made now makes them tied for third in the eastern confrence of the NBA, behind Boston and Detroit, but tied with Toronto. lets see if my Bobcats can make a jump for the crown.

iPhone Killer

9 07 2008

Could this be the phone to end the iPhone’s reign?

The new iphone 3G will support faster 3G (third generation) data speeds and Assisted GPS.

Samsung Instinct

The Samsung Instinct is another mobile smartphone designed by Samsung Mobile and is known to be a direct competitor with the iPhone. It using a Haptic touchscreen and 3 buttons. It also functions as a camara phone, portable media player, text messenger, and a complete web browser and e-mail client. It was released on June 20th, before the iPhone 3G which realeases on July 11th. The Instict is being offered at $129 (after rebates, with no rebates it’s something along $450, but i would consider the rebates) unlike the iPhone which is offered at $199 with rebates. Currently it is only available through Sprint. The specifications as listed on the Samsung Instinct website are:

Screen size: 7.87 cm (3.1 in)

Screen resolution: 240×432 pixels

Input method: Haptic touch-screen interface

Storage: 2GB MicroSD Card (Upgradeable to 8GB)

Network: CDMA EV-DO Rev A (800MHz/1900MHz)

2 1000Ah Li-ion batteries, each capable of 5.75 continuous talk time

Size: 4.57″x2.17″0.49″ in

Weight: 4.4 oz

Other features:

-2 megapixel camara

-Video recording and streaming

-Full internet browser (WAP 2.0, XHTML, HTML, WML, WMLS)

-Personal organizer and voice memo recorder

-2nd bettery included

The iPhone and Instinct share many of the same features. There primary method of input in both phones is through a large touchscreen, but i prefer the Instinct for texting and for two-handed typers because it has a full horizontal keyboard, instead of iPhone’s cramped vertical keyboard where it is very easy to hit the wrong letter. Both have full featured web-browsing, but the Instict’s is much less developed than the iPhone’s Safari. Also, the iPhone is capable of using wi-fi as a solution to it’s lack of 3G service (until the iPhone 3G arrives), while the Instinct is not wi-fi capable but is 3G capable. The Instinct is capable of downloading music from the Sprint music store from anywhere on the Sprint network for the same .99 as iTunes. The Instinct is also capable of displaying live TV and radio, sending and recieveing multimedia messages, voice commands and video recording capability, all features not found on the iPhone. The Instinct also features a slightly longer battery life. The iPhone, however, has a higher resolution screen and the 16GB features a larger flash memory than the upgradeable 8GB memory stick for the Instinct. It is capable of syncing e-mail accounts, web bookmarks, contacts, and calenders from the users computer, a feature not on the Instinct. The Instinct does have Pop3 access to e-mail accounts like Gmail and corporate email. But, the Instinct has had mostly positive reviews. It won awards such as “Best in Show” – CTIA Wireless 2008, “Best Cell Phone CTIA” – CNET April 2008, Winner “Mobile CE Smartphone” – CTIA Wireless 2008.

Call of Duty: World at War

9 07 2008

If you are unfamiliar with the Call of Duty series, then i will give you a brief rundown before the preview. CoD is set in World War II except for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare which is set in (duh) modern times. Most common developer names are Activision and Infinity Ward, but there are others such as Pi Studios and Treyarch. All CoD games are first-person shooters and most of them were released for the PC/Windows. (If you know all about the old Call of Dutys just scroll to the bottom of this post for the Call of Duty: World at War review).

Call of Duty

The first of the series. Is definently a favorite of mine, no matter how old. It was realeased in October 2003 for the PC as a first person shooter, which is how all of them are so far. It was published by Activision and developed by Infinity Ward and was set in WWII. There is a N-Gage version and also an expansion pack.

Call of Duty: Finest Hour

CoD: FH is a console version of Call of Duty for the PC. It was released for the Xbox, PS2, and Gamecube in November 2004. It is based on the original, again in WWII, but with a completely different storyline. Cool facts about this game is that Michael Giacchino composes the music and AC/DC singer Brian Johnson provides the voice for the British commander.

Call of Duty: United Offensive

CoD: United Offensive is the expansion pack to the original CoD, it was released in September 2004. It adds more options, like flamethrowers and bazookas, and more online maps.

Call of Duty 2

Call of Duty 2 is the sequel to the original CoD and another first-person shooter. Again, it was developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. It was released in October 2005 for the PC and released in November ‘05 for the Xbox 360. This game is also set and WWII and is known for it’s D-Day level.

Call of Duty 2: Big Red One

Another addition to the CoD series released for home consoles in November 2005. This game differs from the other because it focuses on the U.S. 1st Infantry Division, which went by the nickname ‘Big Red One’. The box cover features actor Stephen Saux.

Call of Duty 3

The third installment in the CoD series released for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, Xbox, and PS2 in November 2006 and developed by Treyarch. This game was the first major Call of Duty installment NOT released for the PC. This game also includes a couple of Polish missions.

Call of Duty: Roads to Victory

Another WWII shooter released for the PlayStation Portable in March 2007. Has 14 total missions.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Another shooter released by, our favorites, Infinity Ward and Activision. The forth installment in our CoD series quest. Except, this time, we steer away from WWII and go into modern times. So, instead of a Thompson SMG, you have an AK-47. It was released for the PS3, PC, and 360 in November 2007. The multiplayer now includes weapons attachments that you can personalize. It won many awards including “Best Xbox 360 Game”.

Call of Duty: World at War

The fifth installment underdevelopment game of the CoD series. It is currently being ‘under’ developed by Treyarch, who developed CoD 3, and published by Activision. Because of new developers, i believe that there may be a downgrade in graphics, but there are rumors going around that because of the amazing CoD 4 engine, they may be enhanced. The game is set in the Pacific theater (U.S. vs. Japan) and the Eastern Front (Russia) during WWII. Swimming elements will be introduced to the series for the first time in single player and multiplayer. Flamethrowers, first introduced in Call of Duty: United Offensive, will be reintroduced with new flammable environments. There will also be a more open environment with multiple ways to complete a mission. World at War will feature cooperative gameplay (4 player split on consoles or 4 players online for Windows). Vehicles are back along with squad based missions. Weapon customization will be on WaW such as adding a bayonet to certain guns or a basic gernade launcher. Boats will be avaiable with limited firepower. To help simulate the Japanese’s different style of warfare, Treyarch has completely re-tinkered the enemy AI in World at War. Instead of taking cover and flanking in traditional European battle strategies, the Japanese hide in trees, sneak through the overgrowth and scrabble, katana in hand in violent suicide attacks. CoD will return to the PS2 and Wii for thr first time in two years.

Here’s the trailer for World at War.

You may need to watch the video multiple times to understand what is happening and what the guy is talking about.

Transformers 2, More Than Meets The Rumor Filled Internet

9 07 2008
hells yeah

hells yeah

well, you heard it here first, (unless you were watching the MTV movie awards and heard Megan Fox scream out “We’re filiming the sequel tomorow!!!”) THERE WILL BE A TRANSFORMERS 2!!!
this is another reason besides Gears of War 2 that we here at Ace4 (shadow and i) are about to crap our pants.
it has sorta leeked on the internet already on wikipedia and scattered the web, but only Ace 4 will tell you the straight up truth.
if anybody has seen the first Transformers, which im pretty sure you have, then you saw Starscream fly into space during the final battle at the end of the movie.
this is good because we know that Michel Bay wont pull one of those “Megatron somehow lived and will have to fight all over again! im a duche!” moves on us. instead, hes being cool about it and making a whole new storyline.
the sequel, titled Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, will feature a lot more robots/cars, more action, and more Megan Fox. what else do i have to say to make you see this movie?!
the story is yet again set around Shia LeBouf and his hot rod camero/transformer that i wish i had, and his college life. but starscream (the jet that is the awesomest villan ever) has to F it all up for him. ’nuff said.
so there you go, go see the movie and look for the guy with the optimus prime helmet thing on in the back row. thatll be me.

Hancock Review SPOILER ALERT

9 07 2008

hancock well, this fourth of July weekend i went to the movies to check out Hancock, and i must tell you before i actually start reviewing, that this will be ONE GIANT SPOILER ALERT!!!!! so for the punks who read this and say “wow what a duche bag, he didnt even warn us” i will find a new way to waterboard you/tourture you and not go to jail for it.

anyway, Will Smith stars in yet another summer movie, (Independance Day, Men in Black, Men in Black 2) and to some, does not dissapoint.
Smith plays as a superhero/bum that really doesnt give a F about anything, John Hancock. though he has super cool shoes, the city of angles (Las Angelus stupids) hate Hancock exponentionaly due to Hancock’s ruthless nature and carefree attitude.
in the first 15 minuets, Hancock will have you pumped and ready to kick some ass.
then in about the last hour or so in the movie, Hancock will have you saying “WTF?”
and thats the best way to explain it with no spoilers, but because i am to awesome for that, i am about to spill all the beans right now.

Upon savig a guy who turns out to be a public relations, the guy (ray) is motivated to change Hancocks public image in return for saving his life. at first, Hancock blows it off, but once a warrant is issued for his arrest he decides to change.
BUT, rays wife (mary) is skeptacle about the whole situation for some reason that we do not find out about until about halfway into the movie. anyway, Hancock goes to jail, but a massive bank robbery gets him out early. somewhat forced to change his fighting style, Hancock finds a way to save the day without causing a bagillion dollars of damage to the city.

this is where the giant spoilier happens

when Hancock returns to rays house ray is not there and mary tries her best to get Hancock to leave. but for some reason, Hancock is attracted to mary and as soon as he leans in for a kiss, mary throws Hancock about 2 miles down the road, which reveals to us that she has super strength.
to make a long story short, mary is another superhero, Hancocks wife to be exact, and the closer the two are, the more mortal they become.
the only way that people can shape their opinion about this movie is dependant upon their opinion on the mega twist, and because i liked the twist, i liked the movie. other people will be confused as mess and angry at the movie.

so, there you have it. Hancock is a great movie anyway, but if you dont like the giant twist then you wont like the movie. my rating, 4 steaming Firehouse Subs, out of 5.
