The Only Madden 09 Review that Matters

16 08 2008

Well my fellow maddenites, the time has come. the time we start to be taken seriously for the real competetors that we are. we are finally recognized not as aditcs, but as serious competive gamers.

That means that madden 09 is out and it is kickin some ass. i personally got the game on Tuesday the day it came out and this game raises a few eyebrows in both a good way and a sorta good way.

Now im not saying that the new madden sucks or anything, but let me start with the bad news first: first off, when playing an online game and you are uberpwning a noob, (that means beating someone for those of you that dont know what im saying) you will NOT, i repeat, WILL NOT get a win if the other person quits, instead you can choose to quit yourself, giving up the chance to record stats and things, quit the game and count it, which simply records your stats after you quit, or finish the game aganist the cpu. what this means is that if im beating someone 55-3 at the end of the first quarter, i have to play the other three quarters like it was a regular “play now” game aganist the computer. this aggravates me to no end and it proably will do the same to you too.

now the second problem is that this game is VERY different from Madden 08, and not only in its +85 improvements. in 08, you could easily trow a jump ball to Sydney Rice on the Vikings while he runs a fly and he would come down with it like Randy Moss. in 09, not so much. in 09, the defenders will automaticly play a star reciver better than in 08. great for the difficulty and gamers looking for a challange, but for me, this frustraded me given the fact that in 08 i was a semi-pro in madden, but EA Sports made 09 harder for veterans of the game, yet eaiser for noobs.

the third major biggie is that EA lied to us about the graphics. true, the graphics are superb, the grass left stains in my tv as a matter of fact, but when we watch the comercials we see this:

but you dont get that. the game looks more like 08 than this. the only drastic difference is the physics of the players. for instance, if i am running the ball with LT, you can somewhat “feel” him claw into the grass when he makes a cut inside and breaks off a 50 yard TD run.

Now for the good, but im afraid that theres so much good that ill run out of space.

the biggest great is the madden IQ feature. this is baisicly a grading system used to see how good you are at madden out of what i think is a possible 1000. (mines 608 for the record and its not slowing down) you get tested in the new virtual trainer wich is cool, but really shouldnt be that much of a big deal in my opinion. the endzone celebrations are fun because you can now steal a players celebration after a big play. i like to copy shawn merrimans dance thing alot when i play aganist san diego.

anyway, the point is that madden 09 is sick beyond sickness can go. if you want a schooling in 09, invite DMStudMuffin15 on xbox live and get a REAL review of the game

T-Pain’s Angry Return

18 07 2008

http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2008/07/17/in-the-studio-t-pains-angry-return/

This is the article on the Rolling Stone website (link above) about T-pain’s defensiveness against other rappers using the Auto-Tune effect.

T-Pain is feeling fiercely territorial over his signature sexy robot sound, or more precisely, the Auto-Tune software that turns his voice into a cyborg croon — as heard on hits he’s produced or sung on, such as Kanye West’s “Good Life,” Flo Rida’s “Low” and his own “Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin’).”

“People I look up to, legends who don’t have to be using Auto-Tune, they using it!” says T-Pain, 22, sounding genuinely pissed off. The rapper takes out his frustration on copycats throughout his third album, Thr33 Ringz, due this fall. “F.U.” features brutal rock guitars and a scream-along chorus (”Fuck Yooooooou!“); on “Karaoke,” he asks for forgiveness from God before dissing what he calls “karaoke niggas”: “Your daughter told you to get off daddy’s dick!”

After passing on an invite to join Kanye’s tour, Pain recorded 36 songs in two months. “I go in the booth and whatever happens, happens,” he says. Other new cuts include “Chopped & Screwed,” Pain’s take on the slowed-down Houston sound, and the Lil Wayne-featuring “Can’t Believe It,” Thr33 Ringz‘ likely first single. Both songs, of course, feature his man-meets-machine vocals. “Auto-Tune’s stuck with me,” Pain says, grinning at last. “People told me to stop using it, but I would not stop. It works!”

That’s the latest i’ve heard about those 2 songs off his new album,

Jimi Hendrix Heading To ‘Guitar Hero 4’

18 07 2008

That’s right, for all you Jimi Hendrix fans out there, including tokagowa, he’s heading for Guitar Hero: World Tour. The Seattle company, Experience Hendrix, which controls Jimi’s rock music legacy, is providing Hendrix’s music, including masters such as “Purple Haze,” “Foxy Lady,” and “Little Wing,” and likeness in the new Guitar Hero game. Aaron Grant, spokesman for Activision and RedOctane told the Press:

“It’s the first time Hendrix’s likeness will be showcased in the game.”

A playable avatar of Hendrix, as well as the song “The Wind Cries Mary” and a LIVE version of “Purple Haze” recorded in 1969 at the San Diego Sports Arena, will be included in GH 4. Besides these in-game songs and what not, Experience Hendrix provided Activision and RedOctane with songs that will be released in the future as downloadable content, Grant said.

Pikasso Guitar

14 07 2008

I was surfing the web for cool looking guitars when i saw this…

Yes, this is a real guitar, in fact it, is used by guitarist Pat Metheny in many songs, including his song Into the Dream. It is a 42 string, three neck acoustic guitar called the Pikasso Guitar, or the Picasso I. It is custom made, so don’t go looking around in your nearest Guitar Center for one, and made by Canadian luthier Linda Manzer (luthier is someone who repairs stringed instruments). It is called Pikasso probably because of the cubist works of Pablo Picasso. On stage, it’s about the size of a school-band drum.

Guitar Hero: World Tour

11 07 2008

Also known as Guitar Hero IV, Guitar Hero: World Tour is the forth addition to the Guitar Hero series. It is developed by Neversoft and published by RedOctane and Activision and is set for release on October 27, 2008. The game is expected to be released for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, and PS2. The game will have vocals, bass, drums, and lead, pretty much like Rock Band. The game will allow you to create your own songs using drums, and all guitars, but you cannot add in vocals due to certain limitations and copyrights.

Song creation

Players can also upload there own songs and share them amoung others. They have also reworked the gameplay. In Career Mode, instead of playing through a setlist, you encounter gigs, which offer you choices of songs to play, however, you do not have to complete every song to continue on in your Career. The have added a new difficuly level called “Beginner” as well as the regular difficulties (Easy, Medium, Hard, Expert). The new Career will allow players to drop difficulty levels and be able to switch instruments without restarting the Career. The five total instruments for the game are: lead guitar, bass guitar, drums, vocals, and online/offline full band. GH 4 will feature a Band Career mode, something very close as the

Create-a-Guitar

mode on Rock Band. A full four-player band will be able to compete will other bands online in the Battle of the Bands mode. The bass guitarist have been give new mechanics, such as simulating the open E string on real bass guitars during play, indicated by a sixth note in the bass’ note track and played by struming without pressing any fret button. The drums can activate Star Power by hitting both cymbal pads at the same time. The drummer will have special sections in the song where they can perform there own drum solos. Boss Battles are back, but are not as focused on attack power-ups. Players will now have a “Create-a-Rocker” mode. You can

Create-a-Rocker

Create-a-Rocker

change your characters poise, clothing, tattoos, makeup, and age. You can also customize your guitars to a very high degree. Drum sets and mics will also be customizable. Development for a new guitar controller is underway. The new guitar features a touchpad below or next to (depends on the angle your looking from) the normal five fret buttons along the neck of the guitar. According to IGN, players will be alter the tone of sustained notes as well simply tapping to play a note, similar to slapping a bass. The touchpad can also be used for sustains and staccato notes in the music studio. Older GH guitars will still work on World Tour. The drum set is a wireless, velocity sensative, six-piece set with 2 cymbal pads, a snare, 2 toms, and a bass pedal. During song creation, the velocity sensitivity will alter how loud the drum sounds, so, hitting the drums harder during creation, lounder the note will sound hitting it regularly in the song. The mic will uses a USB in place of a wireless one.

The 3 new instruments

The 3 new instruments

For the first time ever, all the songs in the game will be master, or original, recordings. IGN reports there being over 85 new songs. Songs from Guitar Hero III will not be playable on World Tour. Bands confirmed for the game are: Van Halen, The Eagles, and Linkin Park. IGN’s preview showed that Sublime’s “Santeria”, Billy Idol’s “Rebel Yell”, and Foo Fighters’ “Everlong” will be featured on the game. The Game Informer Preview also suggests that Dream Theater may be featured. Lenny Kravitz’s “Are You Gonna Go My Way” was featured in the world premiere trailer and was confirmed as a playable track. Blink-182’s “Dammit” was featured in a video showcasing of the drum set featuring +44’s drummer Travis Barker doing motion capture. A leak from a market research firm mentioned that the game would feature Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, The Smashing Pumpkins, Korn, System of a Down, Ozzy Osbourne, Interpol, and Muse. The Answer mentioned in a conference that there 2005 single “Never Too Late” will be in the game. Fearless Records announced that the song “One Armed Scissor” by At the Drive-In will be in the game as well. Another survey rumoured that the game will feature the band Tool, as well as featuring playable characters including Ted Nugent, Sting, Ozzy Osbourne, Jimi Hendrix, Hayley Williams, and Zakk Wylde. Grand Funk Railroad’s “We’re An American Band” may also be featured, but Activision has not confirmed it. All in all, this game is definently going to compete with Rock Band and sounds awesome. It has its highs and lows, as well does Rock Band 2 (see post Rock Band 2 is Upon Us!). All we can do now, is wait and see.

Here’s a list of confirmed tracks:

“Are You Gonna Go My Way” Lenny Kravitz

“Everlong” Foo Fighters

“Hot for Teacher” Van Halen

“Never Too Late” The Answer

“One Armed Scissor” At The Drive-In

“Purple Haze” (Live) Jimi Hendrix

Tha Carter 3 Review

10 07 2008

i just now recently heard Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter 3, and before listening to it, i hated lil wayne

now that i have heard it, i dont hate him, i just think that he is VERY overrated.
it started with an idea to go see hancock with my cusins, but when i entered his car, he started to blast Tha Carter 3. on our way there, i heard what had to be the worst song i have ever heard, excusing soulja boy’s “do do head”.
all i could hear was “WEEZY, phone home! WEEZY, phone home” for at least five minuets straight. it souded like that was all that the song was about. he was screaming so loud i couldnt even hear his own rap.
although, the only great songs worth mentioning on his cd are “A Mili”, because it has a very simple/sick beat and freestyle type rap to it, and “La La LA” (yes, that is the real name of the song) because it has a catchy chorus. to me, the BEST song was “Mr. Carter” which features Jay Z and has the sickest beat on the cd. the chorus is sick too. tracks:

“3 Peat”

“Mr. Carter” feat. Jay-Z

“A Milli”

“Got Money” feat. T-Pain

“Comfortable” feat. Babyface

“Dr. Carter”

“Phone Home”

“Tie My Hands” feat Robin Thicke

“Mrs. Officer” feat Bobby Valentino

“Let The Beat Build”

“Shoot Me Down” feat. D. Carter

“Lollipop” feat. Static Major

“La La La” feat. Brisco & Busta Rhymes

“Playing With Fire” feat. Betty Wright

“You Ain’t got Nuthin” feat. Fabolous & Juelz Santana

“DontGetIt”

other than those three songs, i wouldnt buy anything else. but, this is just my opinion. if you want a better cd with sorta the same style, just pick up a copy of Graduation by Kanye West, or buy Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool.
so at the end of the day, Tha Carter 3 is about average, something you would expect from a guy who raps with a grill in his mouth (mike jones).
so, IN MY OPINION, Tha Carter 3 gets 3 lighting fast Jimmy Johns Subs out of 5
